Letter Tiles!
The first graders are very busy practicing their letters and sounds every morning in multiple ways. One of the ways is to organize their letter tiles. They are gradually improving their speed and then we make various words with them. They have also learned 8 direction words and are highlighting them on their reading papers. We are still reviewing the kindergarten sight words but will switch from our Smart Start portion of the Wonders Reading curriculum to the main units. Once we start the main units we will begin to focus more heavily on spelling. We are enjoying the brain breaks and our new enVision math series as there are many online components that go with it. The students are learning our rules, procedures, and the daily schedule so that it will eventually become automatic. We've had a great 7 days!!!!
